Miss Manners.[week 11]

I use the environmental settings on your phone so as not to disrupt, I excuse myself when you need to make or receive an important call, and Italk at a low, unobtrusive level.

Can You Hear Me Now?[week 10]

Communication through written words:

  • Email
  • Letter
  • Text Message

Communication through verbal words:

  • Conversation
  • Lectures
  • Meetings

Communication through body language:

  • Nice Clothing
  • Eye Contact
  • Tone of Voice

While I am with my friends I speak a totally different way than I would at service learning or job interview or speaking with elders. I use a lot of slang while I am with my friends. While I am at service learning I speak proper.

Thinking Positively. [week 9]

I think I always have a positive outlook on situations. When I found out what classes I had to have to graduate I actually decided to attend summer school that way I could get those classes done with that way I could graduate earlier.

At service learning I display the same attitude I do in everything else. I always have a positive outlook on things at service learning everything from working on projects to planning events to meeting with people who wish to have Trumps Catering cater an event. I think that my over-all attitude at service learning is one that is very likeable.

My fathers attitude has actually helped me a lot during the past few years such as how he acts towards the people he works with, family, and friends. He always has a positive attitude with anything that comes his way.

More Work[week 8]

Task#3

So far at Trumps Ive learned a lot of new things that have to be done in order to keep a business up and running. I mainly do things on the computer such as make charts and things for the up-coming events and I also make place cards and file papers and many other things. I have a lot of things that I do on a weekly base.

Foodborne Illness[week 8]

Task#2

Foodborne disease is caused by consuming food that is contaminated. Disease-causing microbes, or pathogens, can contaminate foods, so there are many different foodborne infections. Poisonous chemicals, or other harmful substances can cause foodborne diseases if they are present in food. Most of thr diseases are infections, caused by a variety of bacteria, viruses, and parasites that can be foodborne.

This could happen to the customers of Trumps Catering if they use a product that is contaminated. Im sure that the chefs keep an eye out for recalls on foods that they use. There have been no evidence that this has happened in the past at Trumps Catering.

Dangerous Work Place[week8]

Task#1-2

At Trumps Catering there are many ways to get injured on the job. In the office area there arent many ways to get injured but in the kitchen and at the different places that are catered by Trumps. In the kitchen you can get injured by anything from getting burned or have something heavy fall on you to slipping on something thats on the floor such as water. While people are out at the many different places that Trumps caters there are also kitchens that the employees can be injured in. There are also things such as heavy objects that have to be moved.

The Puzzle Pieces Finally Fit.[week 6]

Task#3

So far I have had many good experiences at my service learning. Ive met new interesting people that could potentially help me further my career in wedding planning and/or wedding photography. I havent really thought about which career I actually want to do but its a pretty tough choice. Both careers are right up my alley. This weekend I am actually getting the chance to attend a wedding. The wedding is downtown at Trumps so it will be very benefical to me. Im really excited. I get to see all the planning come together.

Bridezilla on the Run.[week 5]

Ive learned many things about the whole wedding planning deal. Ive learned that it basically takes FOREVER to plan a wedding and that there is a lot more put into it than I thought. People start planning their wedding months sometimes even a year in advance to make sure everything is exactly how they want it to be. Everything from food to photographers are planned to "the t." People spend so much money on their weddings and the receptions and planning something of such a large scale on your own could be very difficult and I think that the planner is actually the person that keeps everyone from pulling their hair out especially the bride.

Running Late... But Whats New?[week 3]

Task #1

I think I need to work on being on time. I always seem to being running late no matter what my plans are. I always have a routine while getting ready to go somewhere. I always do the same routine no matter what I have planned for the day but sometimes I get side tracked and lose track of time. I think I need to work on this. I also have a problem with finishing things that I start.

Task #2

To take better notes...

  • Bring all notetaking materials such as pens, paper, etc.
  • Review previous notes
  • Write quickly
  • Re-write notes after class
  • Review notes after class

To control excessive procrastination...

  • Finish task when I start them
  • List everything I need to do
  • Make a checklist
  • Take a few breaks but not many
  • Look over my work

Task #3

My schedule at my service learning vares from week to week but I always seem to be on time. My service learning is not far from my house so I guess that has a lot to do with it. Ive learned a lot of things at my service learning. Ive learning things that will help me with the career I wish to have which is wedding planning or event planning. Im excited about the next few weeks because Im hoping I can attend a few events that I helped plan.

I Got Bills to Pay, People to Meet and a Plane to Catch.[week 4]

My first impression at service learning was a very good impression. I expected many other things then what I really do during my service learning. I expected loads and loads of like paperwork but really there is not that much paperwork. I get to meet new interesting people that could help me further my career. I have had a few things given to me so I could contact people such as photographers and other event planners so I could speak with them and hopefully learn more about a career of my choice. Ive learned that there is more to event planning then just making sure everything is in place, things such as dates, times, locations, guests, food, seating and many other things come into play while planning for any type of event.

In the future I actually plan on attending a few events that have been planned. I really look forward to actually seeing everything after it has been planned out and how everything fall into place.

Trumps Catering? Nice. [week 1]

Considering I have never had a real job before, I think I need some improvement on things such as getting along with the people that work there already, dressing appropriately and being able to work around the schedule of work. I think that I would probably have a difficult time working and going to school at the same time therefore, I may not be able to do as well as I would like in school do to working. I believe once I get used to working and going to school it will be much easier than I had expected. It just takes time to get used to doing something different.
